Reviews
A painting contractor your facility can rely on.
Facilities managers, practice managers and building owners don’t hire a painter for the paint. They hire one they won’t have to manage, a contractor who turns up when they said they would, keeps the site clean and safe, communicates, and finishes without a fuss.

The problem
Painting a healthcare facility is not like painting an office.

An office can be cleared on a Friday and reopened on a Monday. A healthcare facility cannot. Patients are mid-treatment, theatre lists are booked weeks out, and a corridor is not just a corridor, it is the route a bed travels to an operating room.
That changes what a painting contractor has to manage:
- Dust is an infection risk, not just mess. Sanding debris and airborne particles carry contaminants into spaces where that cannot be tolerated. Work areas have to be physically sealed and contained, not just sheeted off.
- Odour is a patient-safety issue. Standard solvent-based paint fumes are a genuine problem for immunocompromised, elderly and respiratory patients. Product selection is a clinical decision, not an aesthetic one.
- The site can’t stop. A GP clinic still has a waiting room full of patients at 9am. A day surgery has a theatre list. A hospital ward never empties at all. The work has to move around the facility, not the other way around.
- Hygiene has to survive the finish. Walls in clinical areas are wiped down constantly with harsh disinfectants. A finish that scuffs, stains or breaks down under that cleaning fails within months.
Sydney has a dense concentration of private healthcare property, the specialist consulting precinct around Macquarie Street in the CBD, the health precincts at St Leonards and Randwick, the medical campus at Macquarie Park, and hundreds of suburban medical and dental centres in shopping-strip and standalone buildings. Most of it is occupied, working space. Upscale Painting & Decorating quotes and paints these facilities for what they are: live clinical environments where the painting has to be invisible to the people using them.
The Upscale Promise
Five things in writing with every healthcare paint job.
Choosing a painter for a medical facility means trusting a contractor inside a space where hygiene, patient safety and reputation are all on the line. So Upscale Painting & Decorating puts the things that matter in writing, before any work begins.
Services
Healthcare painting services across Sydney.
Upscale Painting & Decorating paints the full range of healthcare property across Sydney, interior and exterior, walls, ceilings and joinery. Floor coatings are not part of our scope; we focus on doing wall and surface finishing properly.
Healthcare Specialists
Infection control is the job, not an afterthought.

Most painting contractors treat infection control as a box to tick. On a healthcare site, it is the part of the job that everything else is built around. Here is how Upscale Painting & Decorating works inside a clinical environment.
- Sealed containment, not just drop sheets. Work areas are physically isolated with temporary barriers and sealed containment so dust and debris stay out of patient and clinical spaces. The boundary is built before the painting starts.
- Dust controlled at the source. Surface preparation is done with dust-extraction and low-debris methods. Less airborne particulate means less contamination risk and a faster, cleaner handback.
- Coatings chosen as a clinical decision. Low-VOC, low-odour paints for the comfort of immunocompromised and respiratory patients. Antimicrobial and scrubbable finishes where surfaces face constant disinfection. Product selection is matched to the room, not the budget.
- Work staged around your protocols. We schedule against your theatre lists, consulting hours and patient-flow patterns — after hours, weekends, or section by section — and coordinate with your facilities and infection-control contacts before and during the job.
- Painters screened and immunised. Every Upscale painter holds a current National Police Check, is immunised for influenza and up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, and completes your facility’s site inductions.
- Site-specific WHS documentation. We provide site-specific Safe Work Method Statements and WHS documentation for healthcare jobs, and work to the relevant SafeWork NSW Codes of Practice and Australian Standard AS 2311 for the painting of buildings.
- Areas handed back ready for use. Each space is cleaned, ventilated and returned to operational condition before the next section starts — so the facility is never holding half-finished, unusable rooms.
The process
How we paint your facility from site visit to sign-off.
A strata repaint runs smoothly when everyone knows what happens next. Here’s exactly how an Upscale Painting & Decorating strata job works.
Schedule & specification sign-off
We agree the staging plan, which areas, in what order, after hours or section by section, and confirm the coating specification for each space. You sign the fixed-price quote. The price is locked and the schedule is set before any work begins.
Containment, prep & painting
We set up sealed containment around the work area, complete dust-controlled preparation, and apply the specified system. Daily clean-up, supervised by the same crew throughout, with each area handed back cleaned and ready before we move on.

Pricing
What healthcare painting costs in Sydney.
Healthcare painting is quoted per facility, because no two jobs carry the same constraints. What moves the price:
- Occupied vs vacant. A facility painted around live operations, after hours, staged section by section, takes longer than an empty one, and the quote reflects that.
- Out-of-hours work. Night and weekend scheduling carries a labour loading. It is almost always worth it for a facility that cannot afford to lose operating time, and it is priced transparently, not hidden.
- Coating specification. Antimicrobial and specialist hygienic coatings cost more per litre than standard paint. We specify what each area genuinely needs, and the quote shows it.
- Surface condition and access. Existing wall condition, ceiling heights, corridor access and the amount of preparation required all factor in.
What does not change is the commitment: whatever the scope, you get a fixed price in writing before work begins. The number you sign is the number you pay. For a precise quote, book a free site visit with Esmayel.
FAQ
Healthcare painting questions, answered.
The questions facilities managers, practice managers and building owners ask before hiring a healthcare painter usually come down to three things, hygiene, scheduling and accountability. Here are direct answers to the ones we hear most.
Can you paint our healthcare facility while it stays open?
Yes. Upscale Painting & Decorating paints occupied healthcare facilities by working after hours, on weekends, or one room, ward or section at a time. Work areas are sealed off with containment barriers, and each space is cleaned and handed back ready for use before the next begins, so consulting rooms, theatres and patient flow are never interrupted.
Do your painters have police checks and immunisations?
Yes. Every Upscale Painting & Decorating painter holds a current National Police Check, is immunised for influenza and up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, and completes the site inductions your facility requires. The same supervised crew works the job from start to finish.
What paints do you use in healthcare environments?
Upscale Painting & Decorating uses low-VOC, low-odour paints chosen for the comfort of immunocompromised and respiratory patients, and antimicrobial, scrubbable coatings in clinical and high-touch areas. As a Dulux Accredited Painter, we specify hospital-grade Dulux systems and match the coating to each room’s clinical use.
Do you provide WHS documentation for healthcare jobs?
Yes. Upscale Painting & Decorating provides site-specific WHS documentation, including Safe Work Method Statements, for healthcare painting projects, and coordinates with your facilities and infection-control contacts before and during the job.
What types of healthcare facilities do you paint?
Upscale Painting & Decorating paints medical centres and GP clinics, dental surgeries and specialist consulting rooms, day hospitals and day-surgery facilities, and hospital wards, departments and corridors across Sydney. Residential aged care facilities are covered on our separate aged care painting page.
