The problem
Repainting an established Willoughby home shouldn’t be burden.

If you’ve put off repainting, it’s usually for one of a few reasons.
You’ve been quoted a price that crept up once the work started. You’ve heard about painters who didn’t turn up, or who left dust and damage behind. Or you simply don’t want strangers in your home for a fortnight with no clear idea of what’s happening or when it’ll be finished.
Those are reasonable worries, and they’re exactly the ones Upscale Painting & Decorating is built to remove. Every part of how we work is designed so you know the price, know the schedule, and know your home is protected before a single brush is lifted.
You deal with Esmayel directly, not a call centre or a rotating crew. And everything we commit to, we put in writing.
The Upscale Promise
Five things in writing with every Willoughby job.
Most painters tell you they’re reliable, tidy and good value. We’d rather show you. Every Willoughby job comes with five commitments, in writing, before we start.
Services
Painting services for Willoughby homes.
Willoughby is a suburb of established freestanding homes, California bungalows, Federation houses, interwar brick homes and the renovated, extended versions of all three. Upscale Painting & Decorating paints all of it. Every service below is available across Willoughby and the wider Lower North Shore.
The process
How we paint a Willoughby home, from first call to final walk-through.
When you can picture the steps, the unknown stops being stressful. Here is exactly what happens.
Colour Consult & Fixed-Price Sign-Off
You get a free Dulux colour consultation, then a written, fixed-price quote. Nothing starts until you’ve seen the colours you’ll be living with and signed the price.
Protection, Prep & Painting
We photograph and protect every floor, fixture and piece of furniture, then prep properly, filling, sanding, priming, before applying premium Dulux systems. Prep is where a paint job is won or lost, and on shaded, tree-covered exteriors it matters even more.

Painting in Willoughby
Tree-lined streets and homes that have grown over the decades.
Lane Cove is one of the greenest suburbs on the Lower North Shore, and that is exactly what makes it a particular suburb to paint. The Lane Cove River and Lane Cove National Park wrap around it, the streets sit under a heavy tree canopy, and a lot of the housing is timber-framed: Federation homes, Californian bungalows, mid-century houses and weatherboard cottages, with decks, pergolas and timber windows that take the brunt of the weather. A painter who treats it like a project home in a dry, open estate will get it wrong.
Timber is the main event. Weatherboard, fascias, eaves, window frames and decking move with the seasons and need flexible, properly primed coatings, not a quick recoat over flaking paint. We cut back failing areas, fill and sand, prime bare timber, and use Dulux exterior systems that flex with the wood. Skip that prep and the finish lifts within a couple of seasons.
The canopy keeps homes shaded and damp. Tree cover is wonderful to live under and hard on paint. South-facing and tree-shaded walls dry slowly, hold moisture and grow mould and lichen, and that is usually where an old paint job fails first. We wash down, treat the growth and use the right primers and films so it does not bleed straight back through the new coat. Leaf litter and sap on roofs, gutters and eaves get cleared as part of the prep, not painted over.
The village has a different job entirely. Around Longueville Road, the Lane Cove Plaza and The Canopy, there is a dense run of apartment blocks and a busy retail strip. Painting a unit, a common stairwell or a shopfront here means working alongside strata managers or around trading hours, managing shared access and keeping disruption low. We handle that scheduling and communication as part of the job.
We’ve painted homes and buildings across Lane Cove and the neighbouring Lower North Shore, Longueville, Riverview, Greenwich, Northwood and Lane Cove West, and we bring that local knowledge to every quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Willoughby painting questions, answered.
Most Willoughby homes are family houses that only get repainted once a decade, so it pays to get the details right before you commit. These are the questions homeowners across the suburb ask us most often, answered plainly.
My Willoughby home has mould on the shaded, tree-covered walls. Can you fix that before painting?
Yes. Damp, shaded exteriors under Willoughby’s tree canopy are prone to mould and mildew, particularly on south-facing walls. We clean and treat the affected surfaces, then prime and repaint with the right Dulux exterior system so the finish lasts rather than failing again within a year.
Do you work on heritage and period homes in Willoughby?
Yes. Many Willoughby homes are Federation and interwar period properties, and some sit within City of Willoughby heritage conservation areas that can guide exterior colours and finishes. Upscale Painting & Decorating works to those controls and uses Dulux systems suited to original timber, brick and rendered surfaces.
What suburbs near Willoughby do you cover?
Upscale Painting & Decorating services Willoughby and the surrounding Lower North Shore, including Chatswood, Naremburn, Castlecrag, Northbridge, Artarmon, Castle Cove, Lane Cove, Longueville and Mosman.
